HI008 Franklin Sessions One

Harlem & Irving proudly releases Franklin Sessions One, the first of 4 EPs in the Franklin Sessions series. Producing as Harlem & Irving Presents, label co-founders Bob Davies and Brian Kelly gathered in upstate New York during the spring of 2021. The duo hunkered down over the course of a long weekend with a SOMA LYRA-8, Moog DFAM, ASM Hydrasyth, Gecho Loopsynth and various effects pedals to produce over two dozen demos. Upon returning to their respective homes, the duo sorted, sampled, and reworked the demos into 8 fully realized compositions. Franklin Sessions One presents 2 of these tracks.

The first track Franklin 2 emerges from the mist, with grain delay and reverb drenched arpeggios and hushed beats, eventually merging with guitars to create a track that wouldn’t be out of place on a 90s downtempo shoegaze comp. Franklin 14 presents a different vibe, something more akin to a haunted take on dub, with ghostly pads, distorted found sounds, and creeping rhythmic elements throughout. Music for foggy nights ‘on the farm.’
